Miracle fix for an old mac mini

I went from 10.6.8 right to El Capitan with no problems whatsoever on an old Mac mini I was considering having to pitch. I could not run some of the new software I needed before, and El Capitan fixed that. It took about an hour to download from the app store, and only about 30 mins to install. Every program I use daily has had no problem with the switch— filemaker 11 (now I can upgrade to 14), pages, print shoppe, numbers, keynote. It’s like I opened up a brand new mac with all my favorite programs and data already in it.
