Adobe Creative Suite no longer stable with El Capitan
I decided to wait a number of months before installing El Capitan…I normally don’t jump on the OS X upgrades until bugs are worked out. I’ve found that everything works so much slower in El Capitan. My Mac Pro meets and greatly exceeds all the requirements, but start-up, opening applications, etc. runs so much slower. Not happy with El Capitan at all. If I could, I would revert back to Yosemite, but the process to do so is so cumbersome and fraught with possible loss of files.
As a graphic designer, I depend heavily on Adobe’s Creative Suite of applications. Since I’ve upgraded to El Capitan, I’ve had all sorts of problems with InDesign. I can be working on body copy, and it simply disappears from the screen. I have to press command+0 or command+1 to see it again. If I go to another application (Safari, Microsoft Word, etc.) when I return to InDesign, sometimes my copy is there, sometimes it isn’t. I searched a number of blogs and discovered that other people are experiencing the same thing. I’m using CS6…it’s happening on Adobe CC as well.
It did seem to improve the functionality of Apple’s Mail. Under Yosemite, if I sent an email, most of the time it wouldn’t show up in the “Sent” folders, so I wan’t able to guarantee that the email was sent. Under El Capitan, all of my “Sent” files are now showing up as sent. So…props for that fix.
My recommendation…DO NOT install El Capitan. I see that a beta of OS X 10.11.5 is already being tested. I just hope I can limp along well enough to get my work done and Apple gets this fixed. It could be an Adobe issue, or even my Suitcase Fusion application, but the disappearing type happens in some other applications as well.
